Podcast: How Cody Sabol’s Path to Painting Success Mirrors Fighter’s Journey
Thursday Nov 18, 2021
Thursday Nov 18, 2021
And now for something completely different!
Why did our GM Hunter Homistek chat with local Pittsburgh artist Cody Sabol during the latest Pittsburgh Combat Sports Podcast?
Two main reasons:
- Cody loves Pittsburgh
- Cody is awesome
Really, you can end it there, but as an added bonus, Cody is no stranger to 247 Fighting Championships and the local MMA scene.
He previously painted inside the 247 FC cage, and his friendship with 247 FC owner Ryan Middleton stretches years.
Hunter and Cody discuss that before digging into Cody's rise in the Pittsburgh art scene, which includes work for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, and dozens upon dozens of the city's finest athletes, past and present.
There, they uncover an interesting revelation: Cody's journey isn't all that different from a regional fighter's rise to the big leagues.
How so?
Grab a beverage, pop on some headphones, and enjoy the show.

So Why Didn't Dalton Macri fight at Brawl in the Burgh 9?
We know you want to know.
So we're going to tell you.
With Brawl in the Burgh 9 now in the rearview mirror, Pittsburgh Combat Sports Podcast host and 247 Fighting Championships General Manager Hunter Homistek speaks with 247FC Owner Ryan Middleton, analyzing everything that went down Saturday evening in Monroeville.
While nine out of 10 scheduled bouts took place without issue, one glaring omission lingered at the event: Dalton Macri vs. Michaelangelo Turner.
Macri, a former PA state champion wrestler at Canon-McMillan, was scheduled to make his MMA debut against Turner, but the bout never happened –– even though Turner made weight.
Even though Turner successfully completed his paperwork.
Even though Turner received a negative COVID test the day of the fight.
Yeah, this one was weird for us. Ryan and Hunter discuss exactly what happened.
